Cheryl Ann Smith

Mrs. Cheryl Ann Southern Smith, age 81, formerly of Decatur, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, at a Rome, Georgia, nursing facility.

Mrs. Smith was born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 3rd, 1944, to the late Charles Francis Southern and the late Audrey Helen Higgins. Mrs. Smith was a talented artist who painted illustrations and beautiful paintings. She was creative, intuitive, and curious. This led to her love of nature, growing beautiful flowers and fresh vegetables in her garden. Her resourceful knowledge was said to be immeasurable- except how to cook! Mrs. Smith was loved by all those who knew her and made everyone around her feel like they were special.  She was known as the life of any party she was attending and everyone couldn't wait for her to show up in attendance. In her downtime, she was an avid reader and enjoyed thrifting for a great find. Her vibrant personality, love for others, and talents will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include: Two sons, James Albert Corwell IV and daughter in law Caroline Corwell, and Daniel Pierce Corwell; one daughter, Audrey Cheryl Smith; six grandchildren, Maximillian Corwell, Isabella Corwell, James Ki Corwell, Robert Brown, Chloe Trotter, and Alex Trotter; two great grandchildren, Charlotte Trotter and George Lanham.

Mrs. Smith was cremated per her wishes and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on September 13, 2025, at St. Bartholomews's Episcopal Church, 1790 Lavista Road NE, Atlanta, GA., 30329 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Planned Parenthood.
