Mr. Christopher "Chris" Daniel Freeland

Mr. Christopher "Chris" Daniel Freeland, age 37, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on August 5, 2026, at a local hospital.

Chris was born on October 19, 1988, in Thomaston, Georgia, a son of Alton Jiroud Freeland and Susan Michelle Brown Freeland. He was preceded in death by one brother, Alton Jiroud "A.J." Freeland Jr.; paternal grandparents, Earnest Bradley Freeland and Billie Sue Freeland. 

He was a country boy thru and thru and stayed true to his roots his whole life. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to walk the woods, find a creek, pond, or lake and go fishing. He adored helicopters and always wanted to ride in one, he accomplished that as a birthday gift and said it was something he would never forge Just about anywhere outside was his happy place, even starting a garden, that he enjoyed working in. He would spend hours tinkering on things that needed fixing- and was called the "Redneck McGuyer" for a lot of reasons! Chris once used a piece of a monster drink can to fix a windshield wiper- no matter the issue, he believed he would find a solution however needed! He enjoyed the simple life and lived his life in a way that was his own. He was genuine but spoke his mind, a jokester and goofball but couldn't be embarrassed, and a deep lover of his family. Chris loved his kids more than anything else in his world and his presence will forever be missed. 

He is survived by his wife, Whitley "Kit" Freeland; father, Alton; mother, Susan; three daughters, Kinsley, Skylar, Malon; four sons, Dakota, Daniel, Kail, Lincoln; two brothers, Joshua and Joseph; extended family and friends.  

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Freeland was cremated, and a private memorial will be held by the family at a later date.
