Mr. Clarence "Ray" Pope

Mr. Clarence “Ray” Pope, age 64 of Kingston, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, July 5th, 2025, at his residence.

Mr. Pope was born in Rome, Georgia on January 29th, 1961, a son of the late Clarence McKinley Pope and the late Elizabeth Brown Pope. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Homer O. Pope and Pearl Towe Pope; maternal grandparents, Dewey S. Brown and Goldie Smith Brown; one brother, Kenneth R. Pope; daughter-in-law, Michelle Wheat Pope. He attended Model High School and, over the years, worked at CTI and in construction. He loved fast cars and liked to fish. In his pastime, he faithfully read his Daily Bread devotional and enjoyed playing with his dogs, Little Man and Buddy. Mr. Pope was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his daughter, Donna Pope of Rome; three sons, Jackie Pope, Brandon Pope, and Jake Barker all of Rome; one sister, Arleen Pope Smith; one brother, Tony Pope both of Kingston; aunt, Virginia Gipson of Chickamauga; former wife and best friend, Kathy Brinson of Rome; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and numerous cousins.

A Private Graveside service will be held for family and close friends. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers include McKinley Pope, Michael Brown, Chase Pope, and Henry Millsap. Honorary pallbearers include Jeff Edwards, Dennis Worthington, and Ken Vaughn.

A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025, from 6 PM until 9 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.
