Daelyn Brock Godfrey

Daelyn Brock Godfrey, age 13, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

Daelyn was born in Rome, Georgia on October 15, 2012. Daelyn was an 8th grade student at Rome Middle School, where he was a member of the marching band and played tenor saxophone. He was always willing to try something new and was truly a pioneer in his own way. Whether he was learning something different, discovering a new interest, or simply finding his own way of doing things, Daelyn never quite followed the crowd. He had a personality all his own. He loved playing Minecraft, climbing trees and rocks, and playing baseball. He was a cheeseburger connoisseur, loved all kinds of animals, and enjoyed reading. He loved watching thunderstorms, especially the lightning. There was something about those moments that caught his attention and brought him joy. In many ways, those little things that fascinated him were all a reflection of who Daelyn was: curious, observant, and always finding wonder in the world around him. He loved spending time with his dog, Tilly Mae, which was his favorite family member according to Daelyn. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready with a really good “dad joke.” He had his own unmistakable fashion style. No matter the season or the weather, Daelyn could always be found wearing his favorite combination of a hoodie and gym shorts. He was a member of West Rome Baptist Church, where he enjoyed being part of the youth group and spending time with his friends.

Survivors include his parents, Matthew and Shannon Godfrey; two sisters, Sterling and Makenley Godfrey; grandparents, Lamar and Darlene Godfrey, Ken and Marjorie Howard, Keith and Maxine Thompson; one aunt, Ashley Howard; extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Daelyn’s Life will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 6 PM at West Rome Baptist Church with Pastor Jarrod Roberts officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 4PM until 6PM at West Rome Baptist Church.

In honor of Daelyn, it is requested that you wear your favorite hoodie to the service on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that you purchase a bible and share it with someone who needs the gospel.
