Ms. Elizabeth Ann Elguanouni

Ms. Elizabeth Ann Elguanouni, age 71, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at a local hospital.

Ms. Elguanouni was born in Paxton, Illinois, on July 23, 1954, a daughter of the late Sherman Douglas Nelson and the late Betty Lou McClain Nelson. Elizabeth spent her childhood growing up in Illinois, attended and earned her degree from Eastern Illinois University, and would always call Illinois "home". In 1991, she moved to Dalton, Georgia, for her job and quickly settled into the community. She truly loved people and was most happy when she could help others. Her career as a speech pathologist was a testament to that. When she wasn't working, she could be found in the company of her 3 canine buddies: Scooter, Izzy, and Snickers, whom she loved and who adored her in return. Her favorite hobbies included knitting and traveling, back to Illinois to visit family and friends or to sit by the beach. Elizabeth eventually retired, and her sweet disposition carried on into the assisted care facility where she was best known for praying with others and lending a helping hand wherever she could. She was kind, loving, and always there in any capacity she could be, which will be so very much missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know her.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn (Scott) Pace; two sons, Marcus McNeely and Nathan (Shona) McNeely; three sisters, Susan Nelson, Linda Russell, Cindy (Kevin) Blake; two brothers, Daniel Nelson and Douglas Nelson; seven grandchildren, Gracie Schaffer, Colleen Schaffer, Jordan Pace, Meadow McNeely, Madison McNeely, Mason McNeely, Emma McNeely.

In accordance with her wishes, Ms. Elguanouni was cremated, and no further services are scheduled at this time.
