Rev. James Lawson Abercrombie, age 76, of Adairsville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home, on Monday, September 22, 2025.
Rev. Abercrombie was born in Ellijay, Georgia on September 28th, 2025, to the late Richard Martin Abercrombie and the late Lorena May Smith Abercrombie .In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers, Clyde, Roy, Otis, Herman, Lynard, and Hoyt Abercrombie; one sister, Rosalee Abercrombie Burgess. Reverend Abercrombie was a true man of God who ministered the Gospel for 27 years. He shared joyfully in the moments of others thru baptisms, weddings, and most of all brining people to know the Lord. Sharing his walk of faith was what he felt led to do and did it well. He was known to like things to be in order and done his way because he was meticulous and made sure everything was "done just right". This was evident in his appearance, his stance, his character, and his hobbies. His hobbies included woodworking and he was a skilled carpenter. If he could chose a favorite place it would be outside taking care of his garden and yard just as thoughtfully as he did his people. HIs yard was always pristine, his garden abundant, his fruit trees flourishing and his flowers blooming. He was a man of many talents, he self taught playing the guitar at the age of 12, and went on to use it and his voice to sing and minster to many throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the Church of Living God in Rome, Georgia He was married to his beautiful wife for 31 years, and it is well known that he loved his family and the times they shared together making memories. He will be sadly missed but they are rejoicing for him now.
Survivors include his loving wife, Patricia "Teresa" Ann Abercrombie; three sons, Shane Abercrombie, Dennis (Sharon) Abercrombie, Jason (Durinda) Abercrombie; three daughters, Genitha Johnson, Brandy (Travis) Patterson, Jenna (Patrick) Patterson; eleven grandchildren, Chris, Jacob, Karigan, Audie, Joshua, Joseph, Sarah (Bailey), Parker, Bayley, Kinley, Ansley; three great grandchildren, Anslie, Emma Jo, Renley; two sisters, Elsie Kowitz and Mattilene Hood; along with nieces and nephews and extended family.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 27th, 2025 at 1PM from the Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Home with Rev, Buddy Floyd, Rev. Steve Kelley, and Rev. Bobby Champion officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 26th, 2025, from 5PM until 8PM at the funeral home.
