Ms. Janice Lou Howard

Ms. Janice Lou Howard, age 60, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at her home.

Ms. Howard was born in Cartersville, Georgia, on May 24, 1966, a daughter of the late Junior Wesley "Doc" Mulkey and the late Annie Mae Cook Mulkey. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Smith and three brothers, Charles Mulkey, Kenneth Mulkey, Stanley Mulkey.

Janice was a carefree soul, who was known for her unusually funny sayings. If you knew her, then you were sure to have heard them! She loved nothing better than to put a smile on someone's face and walk away knowing they were happy. Janice found joy in the small pleasures in life, from singing along to her favorite country classics, belting out Loretta Lynn songs at the top of her lungs and dancing when and where ever she was when the music came on! She was a shining light of happiness and all those who knew her would agree. Her hobbies included loving on her animals, her dog, Snuggles, was her constant companion. Above all else, she was happiest making memories with her family. 

Survivors include two sons, Nicholas Howard and Milton Akins; two daughters, Melissa Garner and Michelle Ramsey; one sister, Ruby Craig; eight grandchildren; extended family and friends.

Ms. Howard was cremated and a private family celebration will be held.
