Mr. Matthew "Chase" Pope

Mr. Matthew "Chase" Pope, age 25, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Atrium Floyd Hospital.

Mr. Pope was born in Rome, Georgia, on February 9, 2001, a son to Jackie Ray Pope and the late Michelle Lee Wheat Pope. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Jimmy Wheat and Ray Pope. Chase loved people and it started as a child in school. He attended Johnson Elementary, Model Middle and then Model HIgh School. It was without a doubt that Chase was a true Southern country boy through and through. He enjoyed time spent outdoors and much of it was on the family property. It was there that he could be found shooting his favorite guns, hunting for deer, or riding 4 wheelers. He loved to throw a fishing line in any creek, river, or stream he could find as well. Chase liked cheering on the GA Bulldogs, hanging out with his friends and listening to music, to no one's surprise, country was his favorite. He'd turn up the volume and dance up a storm with the best of them - always in his favorite boots!  He enjoyed life to the fullest and his family was at the root of that. He was a proud "Mama's boy", made time for late night conversations with his Nanny Kathy, and above all loved and adored his daughter immensely. He will be forever loved and missed by his family and all those who were lucky enough to know him.

Survivors include his daughter, Realynn Pope; mother of his child, Bailey Baxter; father, Jackie Pope; one sister, Courtney Wheat; grandmother, Kathy Brinson; two uncles, Brandon Pope and Shaun Wheat; two aunts, Donna Pope and Nicole Medlock; numerous cousins, extended family, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 2PM in the Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Mizpah Methodist Church Cemetery, 4073 Kingston Hwy., Kingston, GA., 30145.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 4PM until 7PM at the funeral home.
