Mrs. Maxie Susan Lawson

Mrs. Maxie Susan Lawson, age 73, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Atrium Floyd Hospital.

Mrs. Lawson was born in Cartersville, Georgia, on July 27, 1952, a daughter of the late Claude Reeves Jr. and the late Maudie Brooks Reeves. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ross; one son, Josh Motes, and one brother, Joseph Wilson.

Mrs. Lawson was a simple woman who loved the simple things in life. You could find her in front of the television watching Lassie or Little House On The Prairie on rainy days and playing with her cat, Sally. When the weather was good, she loved spending time in the park people watching. There wasn't a song that Ray Stevens sang that she couldn't sing along to and she always wanted to go to Nashville just to experience one of his shows! Maxie was a true friend to many but she and her best friend since third grade, Shirley Ray, were truly inseparable until Shirley's passing. She loved the color blue, taking care of her family, and spending time with her grandchildren. Seeing others smile was her greatest joy. They all agree that she was a wonderful cook and her meatloaf was the BEST. Maxie was a member of Gateway Baptist Church of Acworth and thoroughly loved her time worshipping there.

Survivors include her devoted husband, Emouna Lee Lawson; one loving daughter, Brandy Ross; three grandchildren, Jordan Smith, Brianna Smith, Jayden Ross, who will forever remember times with their "Nan"; one sister, Vickie Wilson; and two special friends, Diane Crosby and Robin Canon.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Lawson was cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.
