Mrs. Odessa Lee Cordle

Mrs. Odessa Lee Cordle, age 96 of Armuchee, Ga., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, at her residence.

Mrs. Cordle was born in Macon, Georgia on April 13th, 1929, a daughter of the late Alvin Kinman Dixon and the late Sophronia Ethridge Dixon. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Gene Alfred Cordle Jr.; her son, Terry Cordle; four brothers, Alvin Sr., Carlton, Charlie, and Evan Dixon; one sister, Oran Barker. Mrs. Cordle was a homemaker throughout her life, dedicating herself to raising her children in a Godly home and living out her faith each day. She exemplified the true Christian life—humble, loving, and with a genuine servant's heart. Her days were often spent reading her Bible, tending to household chores, taking care of her children and later on, her grandchildren. You might often find her humming a hymn or quoting her favorite scriptures from memory, reflecting the faith that guided her life. She was a member of North Rome Church of God, where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years.

She is survived by her children, Debra Bennett (Doug), Marsha Shelton (Jeff), Beverly Crowder (Harold), Kathy Worthy (Van), and Jerry Cordle (Diane); daughter-in-law, Avanell Cordle; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild on the way; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at 1 PM at North Rome Church of God with Rev. Terry Addis and Rev. Owen Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church Cemetery with her grandson, Cooper Henderson presiding. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers include, Stephen Cordle, Scott Shelton, Matthew Crowder, Ayden Studard, Tristan Terc, and Jared Shelton. Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the church at 12:30 PM on Saturday. Honorary Pallbearers include her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 14th from 11 AM until 1 PM at North Rome Church of God, 1929 North Broad St. Rome, Ga., 30161.
