Mrs. Patricia Ann Young Tate, age 77, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, June 28th, 2025 at a local hospital with her family by her side.
Mrs. Tate was born in Cartersville, Georgia, on September 20th, 1947, to the late Robert Clayton Shinall and the late Effie Mae Garrett Shinall. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Charles Dee Tate Sr.; one son, Charles "Dee" Tate Jr.; two brothers, Jerry Shinall and Gary Shinall; three sisters, Nancy Shinall, Linda Baker, and Robin Roberts.
Mrs. Tate was affectionately known as "P-Pat", "Nannie", "Nannie Pat", and "Totsie" to those who were closest to her. Her titles were many and her love was big! She was a kind, loving mother who nurtured her siblings at a young age and then later on, her own children. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her biggest joys. She was the "coolest" aunt to her nieces and nephews To her friends, she was considered the 'great friend" who kept them all laughing and was so much fun to be around. Mrs. Tate was devoted, hard working, and known as always going above and beyond. She was a great manager and tirelessly worked in the retail management sector, retiring from Walmart. Her hobbies included playing bingo and she loved to go to the beach to sit and listen to the ocean, but don't ask her to get in the water because she didn't swim! Her vivacious spirit and sweet demeanor will be greatly missed by her family and friends but the memories she made will live on in their hearts forever.
Mrs. Tate is survived by one son, Kevin (Stephanie) Choate; one daughter, Karen (John) Champion; five grandchildren, Lyndsey (Ben) Sapp, Justice (Trevor) Jeter, Michael (Reese) Champion, Katie (Hank) Champion, Josh (Danielle) Tate; three sisters, Vicki Godfrey, Cathie Walters (Douglas), and Bobbie Sue Johnston; four great grandchildren, Bentley Sapp, Logan Jeter, Couper Tate, Kinley Tate; and her best friend and canine, Bambi.
The family asks everyone who knew her to join them for a Celebration of Life to share and reminisce over memories on Saturday, July 5th, 2025, from 6PM until 8PM in the chapel of Reynolds Funeral Home.
