Mr. Philip Randle Cordle, age 73, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Monday, April 21st, 2025 in the comfort of his home, with his loving family surrounding him.
Mr. Cordle was born in Rome, Georgia on February 2nd, 1952, to the late Ralph Cordle and the late Inez Buffington Cordle. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Carr and Sarah Sprayberry; along with three brothers, Frank Cordle, Billy Cordle, and Larry Cordle; and his beloved dog, Moose.
Mr. Cordle married his beloved wife 56 years ago, at the young age of 17. Together they built their lives together in Floyd County, where they started their home, raised a wonderful family, and served their community well. A hard worker, Mr. Cordle retired from the United States Postal Service. He devoted his life to his family. He was known as the "fixer" and no matter what it was, he'd be there to lend a hand. He was a self taught mechanic and it was said that he could tear an engine down and put it back together with his eyes closed. This mechanicing stemmed from his fondness to old cars, especially Corvettes - of which he had several, and tinkering on them always brought a smile to his face. When he wasn't under the hood of a car, you'd find him spending time with his family. Most would agree that this was his favorite pastime. Making memories at his beloved Panama City Beach with his sons and grandchildren was something always cherished. He was known for his quiet strength, kind demeanor, caring and lovingness to others. He would be the first to help anyone in need and his kind demeanor was one that others could take notice of. His family and friends were everything to him. He could keep them laughing by being a jokester and sometimes would be caught putting his foot in his mouth! Mr. Cordle was a devout member of the Jehovah's Witness- Kingdom Hall of Rome. He will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate to know him.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mrs. Gail Cordle; two sons, Jason (DeAnna) Cordle and Randle Cordle; six grandchildren, Ashley Cordle, Jaylen Cordle, Zoe Cordle, Nora Cordle, Brandon Cordle, and Bradley Cordle; and one sister, Nancy Nettuno.
Mr. Cordle was cremated, and the family will honor him with a Celebration of his Life open to all his friends and family. It will be held on Sunday, May 4th, 2025, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2527 Cedartown Hwy., Rome, GA., 30161. Visitors are welcome from 1PM to 2PM. A service will be held at 2PM.
