Mrs. Phyllis Irene Scott, age 82, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at a local nursing facility surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Scott was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on August 14th, 1942, to the late John Dudley Crone and the late Alice Adele Root Crone. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Arnold Emery Scott; one son, Steve Young; two brothers, Jack Crone and Tom Crone; and one sister, Judy Crone. Mrs. Scott loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a dedicated Christian and prayer warrior who shared that passion on the mission field where she spent over 20 years as a missionary in Mexico with her late husband, Arnold. She had a true servant's heart and it extended over to opening her home to numerous foster children throughout the years. She enjoyed going to church functions, being a social butterfly who could and would strike up a conversation with anyone who was around. She was known to be humble and kind, and would give anything she had to those in need. In her spare time, she enjoyed nothing better than spending time with her family. She loved being in the kitchen where she was an avid baker often spoiling her family with that famous strawberry pizza of hers!
Survivors include her three sons, Rick Young and his wife Tammy, Wyatt Young and his wife Kandace, and Jonathon Scott; daughter in law Wanda Young; 12 grandchildren; 4 great- grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Joyce Moore.
Interment service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Service time will be announced soon.
