Mr. Shannon Mat Lovingood

Mr. Shannon Mat "Fat Boy" Lovingood, age 47, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at a local nursing facility, surrounded by the love of his family.

Shannon was born on September 3, 1978, in Marietta, Georgia, a son to the late Donny Leon Waits and Vicky Lee Hulsey. Along with his father, he is also preceded in death by one brother, Corey Lovingood.

Shannon, affectionately known as "Fat Boy" by his friends and family, he loved food in general but country cooking was his favorite and that made his nickname stick! He was good with his hands and you'd find him building motors, tinkering under the hood, or eating up the race track any chance he could. Harley Davidson motorcyles and Fox Body Mustangs were his passion and he enjoyed tearing them apart, fixing them up, and taking long road trips thru the countryside. Being outside was where he wanted to be and it didn't matter if he was cruising the backroads or enjoying a sunset from a cruise ship, he was sure to be happy. Anytime spent with his family was what made him most proud. He will be missed greatly by all of his family and friends and his memory will forever be cherished in their hearts.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Lovingood; mother, Vicky (Emmanuel) Sims; adopted father, Gary Lovingood; four sons, Andrew Lovingood, Mattie Lovingood, Conner Lovingood, Chase Lovingood; one stepdaughter, Jaime (Ricky) Chambers;  two sisters, Dondra (Shane) Tant and Misty (Jesse) Edwards; five grandchildren, Ada Jane, Kaylinn, Brooklynn, Jamar, Ricky; mother in law, Brenda Ingram; father in law, Donald Perry; extended family and friends.

As per his wishes, Mr. Lovingood was cremated and no further services are planned at this time.
