Mr. Virgil Ray Hines

Mr. Virgil Ray Hines, age 68, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at a local nursing facility.

Mr. Hines was born in Harriman, Tennessee, on January 25, 1957, a son of the late Virgil Hines and the late Pearl Ruth Houston Hines. Mr. Hines was known by all as a dedicated and hard working man. This was evident in his job especially as he never missed a day of work no matter what the situation or circumstance. When he wasn't working, he could be found cheering on his favorite sports teams. The Pittsburgh Steelers would be for sure playing on his television when he wasn't in the stands watching live. During baseball season, the same would be said for his beloved Atlanta Braves. His favorite time of the year was enjoying the holidays. He counted Independence Day as his favorite and was always happy to join in on the festivities surrounding the Fourth of July. As the year moved forward, he would light up with joy at Christmas time. It was during this holiday season that he would relish in giving presents and wanted them to be that extra special gift he knew the person really wanted, his grandchildren especially! Christmas was a time when he handed out $100 bills and the things others couldn't find, because deep down it meant more to him than it did them. He was a loving father and grandfather and the holiday memories he made will forever be held special by his family.

Survivors include one son, Travis (Maria) Hines; one daughter, Brittany (Justin) Ruth; five grandchildren, Wayde, Lex, Axel, Vivian, Corbin; one sister, Linda (Ronnie) Silvey; three nieces, other friends and extended family also survive.

Mr. Hines was cremated and a private ceremony will be held at a later time.
